Sonnet 116

Had dinner with “Mr. Separate Lives” last Wednesday. He has this good image which I think is the reason why lots of girls are drawn to him (naks!). Well, except me. Not that he’s not ok, but we’re friends you know. You don’t always fall for your friends no matter how good they are, right? He’s really nice. Truth is, as much as I want to mention his nick so you girls out there can check him out, I can’t. It’s for my own safety. Some girls might get mad. I still want to reach my birthday 😁(I’m giving him the code name because he sang the song Separate Lives by Phil Collins during dinner 😂)
Now this guy has always been idealistic (denied several times). With his newly ended relationship, he decided to put into heart William Shakespeare’s Sonnet 116.
There were a couple of instances I wanted to break a loud laugh but decided not to. It wasn’t the right time. Though I did smile and laughed a bit, I had no urge to act that way because even though he was smiling while sharing his story, I saw the pain in his eyes. At some point I wanted to hug him but realized that I might shock him to death *hahaha* like what nearly happened last time my hand touched his (I can’t stop laughing now). So I decided to not move and save him.
So what is it about Sonnet 116?
True love is true love. Shakespeare’s words in the sonnet describe a pure and authentic feeling. It probably equals the highest level in the love meter or probably more than the highest level. Just like Human Torch’s temperature from the movie Fantastic 4 in 2005 (may I just say that Chris Evans fits the role. He is so hot! Do you remember the part when he was naked and he was just covering his lower body part with a jacket? He was a sight for sore eyes.
Back to Sonnet 116 (I’m behaved now). What exactly is it saying? This sonnet is telling us that love doesn’t change. Whatever circumstance happens in our relationships, it won’t fade. Not even time can change it. Real love stands in the midst of storms and stays as it is after the chaos. It is simply perfect.
And this is what my friend believes so he decided to stop the relationship that seems to be going nowhere. It is difficult to keep trying when your partner isn’t willing to try. Space is really needed for both of them to realize things. The girl may realize something new. Same goes with him. But by the looks of it, they’ll fall on opposite ends.
Yet, I still hope they wouldn’t. He is too in love to get bruised like that.
Sonnet 116… *sigh*

hi gerty! love the sonnet. (personal favorite since highschool) 😉 thanks for posting it and reminding us and giving hope about love. especially for those who lack of it and are close to not believe in it anymore. 🙂 good day!
You have been one of my sweetest friend. I never knew you would do this just to boost my weak ego and waning life appreciation. Thanks. See what friends can do=)
