The Rise of Turkish Serials

With the additional time spent at home because of the pandemic, a lot of people had time to binge watch movies or TV series, old and new. Some of you must have finished your “to watch” list. For many years, people were so into K-dramas and Taiwanese dramas. Some have tried Thai dramas and even the Chinese ones. But this quarantine period has introduced me to the world of Turkish serials.
The length of each Turkish episode is 2 hours. This is longer than your usual 60 minutes to 90 minutes of Asian drama episodes. Try not to complain that it is too long. Once you get hooked, you might end up complaining that the hours are too short. You won’t even notice 120 minutes passing by on a really good plot or on swoon-worthy scenes. There are choices between lighthearted romantic stories and the ones with hardcore drama. Try not to choose since both have a good list of titles under them.
Now let’s talk about the lead actors. Of course we will talk about the leading men. If you are used to watching Asian dramas, then you are used to clean shaven men. I remember asking a friend who’s so into K-dramas to check out one Turkish drama. She refused and said she isn’t into men with a lot of facial hair. O…k…. Anyway, I used to say that too and look where I am now. Swooning on my favorite Turkish actor.
I may not be too familiar yet, but I feel that finding a site which streams Turkish dramas in English subtitles are not as many as those that stream Asian dramas with subs. But with their rising popularity, more people are helping translate these shows to other languages for more people to watch.
Now take a break and give some time to try one of these series. Just a warning, you might find yourself having a new addiction.
Agree, my facial hair is kinda bad and requires lots of grooming XD
I have started watching your recommended series! I’m checking out other titles now. Taking a break from K-dramas ๐
Yehey! Tell me what you think when you finished ๐
Sadly most Asians don’t like men with facial hair. Personally I do like facial hair, it makes men looks manly XD
You have a point, facial hair makes men look more manly ๐ Well, women have different preferences when it comes to that. I used to prefer clean shaven men but I’m singing differently now hahaha Depends on who has it I guess (?).
